DIY Baltimore Winter Wedding
Tatiana and Steve came to me hoping I would document a wedding day that was all about their relationship, their family, their close friends and the town where they fell in love. The wedding was on a December day but the weather gods blessed us with perfect weather and it was actually a little warm! Tatiana loves the look and idea of DIY and customization- the bridesmaids worked together to make the bouquets from fake flowers, beads, jewels, etc., both Tatiana and Steve had their wedding wear custom made, and each bridesmaid had a custom-made hand painted dress dress. Tatiana's mom, sister and bridesmaid did her hair and make up in the sunday school building next to their church, Old Otterbein United Methodist Church.
They opted for no traditional wedding decorations and instead made us of the church's Christmas decorations that they had actually assisted the church in making. Tatiana's bridesmaid played the piano during the procession before joining the rest of the ladies at the front of the church. The ceremony was short and beautiful and was followed by photos in the courtyard and throughout the Baltimore inner harbor.
The evening concluded with a low key reception at the Heavy Seas Alehouse, a spot the couple frequents, where there was a casual buffet and dancing.
Suit Designer: Christopher Schafer Clothier
Dress Designer: Shifra Green Couture - She is just starting out and said that if you send me your logo / business info, we'll make sure it's on her site when she posts the pictures of me so you get credit too.
Ring Designer: Ivan and Mariana Barriga. The rings are my Abuelitos' wedding bands. They are still happily married and it was a very special gift that they gave us. Their marriage is one of the best I know, and I feel like I owe a lot to them. I had asked for my Abuelito's ring so that I could propose to Steve with it. I assumed Abuelito would give me one of his cool club rings or something, but instead they both got so excited and gave me their wedding bands. Steve wore his band on a chain during our engagement and shortly after I proposed, he surprised me by proposing back to me with his grandmother's engagement ring. During the ceremony, I was wearing his grandmother's ring at first, then when we exchanged rings we put on my Abuelitos' bands. We are lucky to have such an awesome family. :)
Bouquets: Adriana Barriga, Miranda Green, and family (With the late, great Grandma Charlotte Ott's jewelry tucked into the flowers)
Church / Pastor: Old Otterbein United Methodist Church, Pastor: Rev. Jessica Statesman
Reception: Heavy Seas Alehouse
